quotes unlimited #6

"Every problem is an opportunity to trust God. Christ must be at the center of your relationships because He provides a stable, fixed point of reference; otherwise, your relationships will be frail and fragile."

grilled food and the beach...

We'll have no work tomorrow because HR people swapped it to Wednesday's holiday which is the Feast of Ramadhan. Oh, i'm excited! Me and my teammates will go to the beach. It's going to be fun. I hope somebody will bring fish for some healthy grilling action. I can't think of what to bring, maybe i'll just bring more fruits. Ahh the beach, grilled food, the sun... this is going to be heaven. I hope the weather will cooperate. :)

i want a laptop!

Been to the mall lately and was looking through some items i wanted to buy. I guess i can wait until it will be sold at lesser prices. Isn't it always a delight when the things you've been eyeing for days suddenly is available at discounted prices? I bet it's a rewarding feeling when you get to buy those favorite items at lower prices. Great deals are our bestfriends. Well, why would you purchase items that are expensive when you get to buy the same items at lesser costs? That's just great! Aside from strolling in the malls, there are other ways to scout for great deals. If I were you, i won't even go through the hassles of going to department stores and wait in queue to pay in the cashier. I would simply just sit and look for items online that are for sale at low prices. You would probably not believe how much you would save if you try this. As for myself, I have a lot in mind to buy especially electronic gadgets. I really want a laptop for Christmas but i don't think i would be able to save enough to buy one. But i'm quite relieved because i might just be able to buy. How so? I'm looking into buying this Gateway M6309 Notebook for only $399.00. I will be able to save about $500.00. How about that? That's a lot of savings there! Here's more - I wouldn't have to spend on shipping because shipping is totally free! Folks, buy now, stock is limited.

movies and me #1

Vivian: Thanks for driving me home. Goodbye.
Carlo: Where is it?
Vivian: We are almost there now. It's not far from here.
Carlo: Can you go alone in dark?
Vivian: Are you going to walk me home if i can't?
Carlo: If you want me to.
Vivian: Do you know what? Girls often dream about this... where she feels like a withered flower surrounded by all these fabulous people and out of nowhere, this prince on a white horse calls her name, holds her shoulder and gently touches her hair. And walk her home. But that is too perfect. I'll be going. I am really thankful for today. I really am.

Dialogue of Vivian and Martin in the Koreanovela, Lovers in Paris. I shed a tear in this part. I don't know. It's probably because it somehow resonates what i am truly from the inside. I may come off an independent and self sufficient woman but a part of me will and always will look for that certain warmth of being taken cared of.

who wants a vacation?

I do. I want a vacation right now. And so i've heard that when you say vacation, Branson vacation is nothing but superb! Olala! There's a lot of vacation packages to choose from. One can either choose a platinum, gold, silver, bronze, family, great american or titanum package. Each package has it's corresponding cost with equivalent inclusives. I'm pretty sure you'll get to find one package that best suits your idea of fun at reasonable prices. The packages are perfect if you'd like to spend a couple of days with your loved ones and family. Kids and adults alike would surely enjoy the shows like Acrobats of China, Grand Jubilee, Hammer Barber Variety Show, Haygoods, Kirby VanBurch, Legends in Concert and Pierce of Arrow. Plus lots and lots of other shows you'd be booking for another tickets for your next visit. Don't forget to check out the condos, it will want you packing your clothes and head on to a weekend of rest and recreation. Now, i really can't wait to have a vacation.

personalized stuff

Gifts are even more appreciated when you know it's given much thought by the bestower. For my birthday this year, a friend gave me a personalized cap. Another one gave me a personalized bathrobe. All of the other gifts were equally personalized knowing that it's my favorite color or they're my favorite stuff. I actually have other personalized things of my own too. I bought last year a mug that has my name printed on it. Then Christmas of last year, my group in the office had personalized pens for our Christmas gifts. Oh wait, i have keychains which bear my name also! This would probably explain why i get so attached to my little novelty collections.

unpredictable weather

One minute it's raining, another minute and the sun is beaming! Unpredictable weather conditions can make me crazy sometimes. You see, i always carry a humongous bag so it could accommodate my gazillion of stuff from pens to notebook to flashlight to little medical pouch to makeup kit to umbrella. Yes, i carry around an umbrella regardless if it's raining or not. I have it as long as i have a big bag. But sometimes, the little fashionista side of me would prefer handy cute bags or sling bags to match my outfit. And yes you guess it right! It rains when i don't have my umbrella. Tsk! A friend had a share of somewhat similar misfortune earlier when she informed me that she's in the middle of the traffic inside her car with no air conditioner. I told her to get a new air conditioning compressor and a functional cooling system might just ease her when trapped in busy streets on hot days.

babies and baptisms

Every now and then, i receive baptismal invitations from friends and old classmates. Seems like everyone is having a baby! Geez! Am i left out? Last Sunday was the baptism of Berna's (college friend) baby. I wasn't really feeling well so i was not able to attend to the said occassion. She did not tell me beforehand that i was one of the godparents. It's just yesterday that she informed me through text that i was supposed to be a godparent if i came early. Huh!? I would have attended no matter what if i knew it. Anyways, whichever the case is, Berna's about to kill me! :P I missed her wedding and i missed her first baby's baptism. I hope i can make it to the first birthday party. :) You know what, it's always a dilemma for me when it comes to choosing what to give as presents. More often than not, i end up giving baby clothes or dresses. My godkids, don't worry, i'll try harder to think of other gifts to give next time.

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." — Paulo Coelho

But who is not afraid to fail? Not even the slightest hint of fear?

on insurances

One of the things that an applicant would look into before accepting any job offer is the company's benefits given to the employees. For some generous big companies, group health insurance is one of the benefits. I'm glad that currently i get to avail of it even though the amount is not that big. Anyhow, it's of great help if i'll be hospitalized nor my parents who are my declared dependents. Sad to say, not all employers give this kind of benefit to their employees. How about you? Do you consider this a factor?

clothing fanatic

I'd have to admit, i really like clothes. I may not wear the best of dresses because after all it's not what that defines me. But i do appreciate and admire those people who can pull off wearing those chic clothes and apparels. I even find costumes or office uniforms adorable. I mean of course those tailored office uniforms that compliment the apperance of the workers. I just think that if you wear something nice, it helps bring out the best of you. I don't mean nice here as expensive. Nice may mean cheap but what is that makes you feel comfortable and look neat. Would you believe that i like to watch these women equestrians? Not only they look cool riding in their houses, with their equestrian clothing, they even look cooler!

quotes unlimited #4

"We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation.

It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that yours is the only path." - Paulo Coelho

Oh, just another wonderful line from Coelho :)

annoying coworkers

The 6 Most Annoying Coworkers: Are You One?

Nearly every workplace has them: the Naysayer, who dismisses team members' ideas; the Spotlight Stealer, who claims credit for a colleague's efforts; and other annoying coworkers who make collaboration difficult. Following are six professionals whose irritating behaviors and irksome attitudes prevent them from forming productive relationships at work -- and what you should to do avoid following in their footsteps:

1. The Naysayer. This office dweller delights in shooting down ideas. Even during "blue sky" brainstorming sessions, where all suggestions are to be contemplated with an open mind, the Naysayer immediately pooh-poohs any proposal that challenges the status quo.

The right approach: Because great solutions often rise from diverse opinions, withhold comment -- and judgment -- until the appropriate time. Moreover, be tactful and constructive when delivering criticism or alternative viewpoints.

2. The Spotlight Stealer. There is definitely an "I" in "team" according to this glory seeker, who tries to take full credit for collaborative efforts and impress higher-ups. This overly ambitious corporate climber never heard a good idea he wouldn't pass off as his own.

The right approach: Win over the boss and colleagues by being a team player. When receiving kudos, for instance, publicly thank everyone who helped you. "I couldn't have done it without ..." is a savvy phrase to remember.

3. The Buzzwordsmith. Whether speaking or writing, the Buzzwordsmith sacrifices clarity in favor of showcasing an expansive vocabulary of cliched business terms. This ineffective communicator loves to "utilize" -- never just "use" -- industry-specific jargon and obscure acronyms that muddle messages. Favorite buzzwords include "synergistic," "actionable," "monetize," and "paradigm shift."

The right approach: Be succinct. Focus on clarity and minimize misunderstandings by favoring direct, concrete statements. If you're unsure whether the person you are communicating with will understand your message, rephrase it, using "plain English."

4. The Inconsiderate Emailer. Addicted to the "reply all" function, this "cc" supporter clogs colleagues' already-overflowing inboxes with unnecessary messages. This person also marks less-than-critical emails as "high priority" and sends enormous attachments that crash unwitting recipients' computers.

The right approach: Break the habit of using email as your default mode of communication, as many conversations are better suited for quick phone calls or in-person discussions. The benefit? The less email you send, the less you're likely to receive.

5. The Interrupter. The Interrupter has little regard for others' peace, quiet or concentration. When this person is not entering your work area to request immediate help, the Interrupter is in meetings loudly tapping on a laptop, fielding calls on a cell phone, or initiating off-topic side conversations.

The right approach: Don't let competing demands and tight deadlines trump basic common courtesy. Simply put, mind your manners to build healthy relationships at work.

6. The Stick in the Mud. This person is all business all of the time. Disapproving of any attempt at levity, the constant killjoy doesn't have fun at work and doesn't think anyone else should either.

The right approach: Have a sense of humor and don't be afraid to laugh at yourself once in awhile. A good laugh can help you build rapport, boost morale, and deflate tension when working under stressful situations.

It's fairly easy to spot the qualities that make the above individuals irritating -- at least when the behaviors are displayed by others. It can be a challenge to recognize when you exhibit them yourself. You may not realize, for instance, that you always pepper your communications with industry- or company-specific jargon, even when speaking with new employees or outside contacts. Though you may not be a full-fledged Interrupter or Stick in the Mud, take care to avoid heading down their paths.

The best advice: Remember common courtesy and act toward others as you want them to act toward you.

*Got this from a forwarded mail and i thought it's worth sharing. I'm probably the Inconsiderate Emailer type. hehe! :P
